Auslogics Disk Defrag (3.2.1.10) – Freeware Review Posted: 05 Jul 2011 01:36 PM PDT Name: Auslogics Disk Defrag Version: (3.2.1.10) AA. Cost: Free BB. Is Auslogic Disk Defrag Worth It ?: Yes, 100% 1. Ease Of Use – Super simple there are basically 3 options Analyze , Defrag and Defrag & Optimize. And 1 hidden option "Check For Disk Errors" 1A. Interface - I would hazard a guess at saying that this is idiot proof. But every time I say that I get an e-mail a day or so later. Saying it screwed up their system or caused some conflict. 2. Quality Of Scan – Extremely accurate and a lot faster. Then pretty much any program free Disk Defrag program out there. Even faster then Smart Defrag. 2A. Speed Of Scan – Regular scan time for a 500 gig hard drive ranges any where from under 5mins to around 2hrs. The time it takes to defrag your hard drive. Does vastly depend on how fragmented your hard drive and or drives are in the firs place. 2B. Ease Of Reading The Final Report: Harder then you might expect. 3. Updating – When you check to see if there is an update. It will bring you to the Auslogic Disk Defrag website. Where if there is an update available. It will be a highlight in blue. You then can click to download said new version and then download it. 4. Can You Run Other Programs During A Scan ? Yes 4A. Can You Run A Programs During An Update ? Yes 5. Is There A Progress Bar ? Yes 6. Can You Leave Auslogic Disk Defrag Running Without Issue ? Yes 7. Is There Adware Or Spyware Bundled With Auslogic Disk Defrag ? Yes, there is an optional Ask.cm toolbar. You can opt-out of. 8. Is Auslogic Disk Defrag Stable ? Yes
I give Auslogics Disk Defrag an Overall Score of 4 out of 5 - Other then some issues with raided hard-drives and a hard to understand end of scan report read-outs. Auslogic Disk Defrag is a must have for any PC user. And that goes double for all the Windows Vista users out there. That are miffed off about the terrible disk defrag program that is included with their copy of Windows Vista. **The only downside I could see with Auslogic Disk Defrag. Was that it only can offers up whole number percentages such as 1% hard drive fragmentation. When other disk defragers can offer up more accurate to the last percentage point such as a read out of 1.5% overall disk fragmentation. Again a very minor issue seeing it FREEWARE. ***But I still give a very slight edge to Smart Defrag (2.1) ———————— Link to Download Auslogics Disk Defrag: http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download/ ———————— —————————————————————— Return To The Main Reviews Page —————————————————————— Till The Next Review, Remy "Se7en" |
µTorrent (3.0) – P2P Software Review Posted: 05 Jul 2011 01:16 PM PDT Con's - Sometimes good Torrents are really really hard to find - Sometimes it can take hours, days, weeks to download a file and or files. All will depend on your connection speed, the size of the file and the souring of the torrent and or torrents you are using. - There can be some serious virus issues - Depending on your Internet connection. You can use all your bandwidth for the whole house or business network without evening knowing it. - Some options require you to be rather Computer/Internet Savvy - Setting up µTorrent for optimal performance can take some trial and error. Pro's - Free - Simple to use - There is a ton of customization options wise - Brand new freeware App add-ons - New drop file send option added - Very easy to use Internet connection guide - Files are generally pretty darn safe. Provided you know what files types you are looking for and or planning to download. (And with the Torrents with positive feedback/ also know as the Green comments) - Way better then the bulk of their competition - Very slick/clean interface - Very light on resources (Both Ram and CPU) - Provided you use a good torrent site, you can get some stellar file sourcing. - You can find some pretty rare files, movies and or music - Very decent download speeds for most torrents - Very easy to change ports on the fly - Can download any type of files you could ever possibly want. - Can download multiple files at a time - Can download huge files of several 100 gigs with ease. - Has bandwidth and sourcing encryption ————————————————————— Overall Score 4.5 out of 5 – Provided you are using a good torrent source such as ISOHUNT. You should be able to find pretty much anything you could ever want. But be very careful some Torrents can have some very nasty virus hidden inside them. So please use the Torrent Positive/Negative comment rule (If it is green it is a go). So if there is no feedback or negative also known as RED feedback posted for that torrent. Then whatever you do don't download said torrent. If you do decide to download anyways you would be asking for a possible virus issues. On the other hand if there are a bunch of positive comments (Green Comments/Positive + Score). Then you should be good, but I tend to read the comments even if there are a lot of positive comments. Just to air on the safe side.
