Opinion Outpost – Survey Site Review (Oct 2011)

Posted: 30 Oct 2011 09:10 PM PDT

Name: Opinion Outpost

Link: https://www.opinionoutpost.com

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Canadian & US Residence Only

Type of Award Or Payment: Cash (points) / Instant Prize / Sweepstakes / Donation To Red Cross / Amazon.com e-certificates / Citi Bank Gift Cards / Request check in (USD) Funds Or Paypal Payment

(10 point = $1.00 USD) Must have 50 points = $5.00 USD

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: 0 – 50 points

Sign-Up Time: Very Lengthy

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 30

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: About 1 months to 1 year. Doing all the surveys sent to you in full

(Sometimes it can take a lot longer, Depending on how much you want before you claim your reward or cash out) -Example $50.00 or $100 USD-

Do They Spam You: No

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 – Opinion Outpost is yet again having administration issues (Mostly log-in and tracking issues thus far). But the main issue of the past 3 months that sticks out to me are. There has been a major increase in the overall difficulty of qualifying for the reward promised. I have often found myself almost 50% or more into a survey when I am kicked out for little to no reason. I don't even get the screen. That asks me if I want to try for Instant Prize/Donate/ or Leave. That is honestly very very sad when we put in the time and effort into said survey.

Now on to the best part of the surveys you can answer in full you should expect between 5 – 50 points or $0.50 to $5 USD.

————————————

Extra Important Information -PART 1: First off a major heads up to you all out there. Opinion Outpost is under going MAJOR renovations to the site as a whole. They are also splitting the site into 1 tailoring the their US clients and 1 for their Canadian clients

Extra Important Information -PART 2: You must complete your full profile as well as update it at least once a year. To continue to receive your survey invites from Opinion Outpost. If you fail to do so, Opinion Outpost will just stop sending you survey invites to you without any warning.

What Is Adware ?

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 09:15 PM PDT

RR 4.0

Adware or Advertising Supported Software – is any software package which automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertisements to a computer. These advertisements can be in the form of a pop-up. They may also be in the user interface of the software or on a screen presented to the user during the installation process. The object of the Adware is to generate revenue for its author. Adware, by itself, is harmless; however, some adware may come with integrated spyware such as keyloggers and other privacy-invasive software.

Dear Remy Or Danny,

I read one of your tweets about you guys doing internships soon. Is that at all true ?

Sent In By "Carter Mack"

I read one of your tweets about you guys doing internships soon. Is that at all true ?

Remy's Reply: We are indeed looking for interns. We have yet to make it official besides the 2 tweets. So yes it is 100% true and the positions will become active come Jan 2012. As of right now we are excepting CV's / Resumes. But Danny will be the man in charge of the project and hiring.

Danny's Reply: Yeppers, I am indeed in charge of the co-op and internships for (CSW). So feel free to e-mail me at computer.savvy@hotmail.com. Just a reminder it is for Jan 2012. Not sure when in January we will activate the positions. Or how many positions will be available. But we shall update all of you guys as soon as we get more details. Right now I'm thinking 6 positions 3 co-op and 3 internships.

So till then keep your eyes peeled on Twitter and for our weekly blog update.

How To: Find Yourself On Google. So You Can Remove Yourself. -SUPER Noob Edition-

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 09:15 PM PDT

RR 4.0

Here are some quick tips to aid you "SUPER Noobz" out there. In how to find yourself on Google. So you can remove yourself.

1) Put your name in quotation marks. So if your name is John Doe search for "John Doe"

2) Try variations of your name and middle name. So if you had a middle name of Andrew as well as searching for "John Doe" search for "John Andrew Doe" "John Doe" "Jhon Doe" "Johnathan A Doe" etc

3) If you have a common name (or even uncommon name). You can reduce the number of results by searching for your name link one or more related terms to it.

First of a search for your Facebook profile:

"John Doe" FaceBook

If on the other hand you want to see whether a forum or message board profile can be linked back to you. Simply by searching "John Doe" had a profile name of "IGN PS3 Forum" you would search for

John Doe "IGN PS3 Forum"

This should tell you if your profile can be easily linked back to your real name.

This could be a problem if you had a profile on a message board. You would rather not have anyone know about (Such as adult content or drug related or even illness related)

4) Remember that on some occasions information could be linked back to you already. Such as a linked Digg.com profile/Twitter Account/Flicker Account/Facebook Account. (Often it can be hard to unlink these accounts. But some are easier then others.)

5) Remember if you use a nick name or callsign such as "ACE666"  know the more sites you use it on and a links to your blog (you post). The easier it will be to link it back to you and your site.

Finally a quick tip to reduce your risk

If you have an option to keep information private or limit who can see it. Often such information needs a box un-checked or in some cases actually physically removing the information from your profile by hand -Often after registration- (THIS IS ALSO CALLED STRIPPING YOUR PROFILE)

—————————-

DISCLAIMER: Results will dramatically vary based on your Internet footstep/ tech footstep. Meaning all you SUPER SOCIAL NETWORK JUNKIES out there. Will have a much harder time at this. But regardless good luck.

Danny

(CSW) Recommendations: My Top 5 Most Useful Websites -Danny Edition-

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 09:15 PM PDT

RR 4.0

-Danny Edition-

1. http://www.google.com (Are you alive, do you like finding things. Well there you go. Nuff said.)

2. http://twitter.com (Do, I even need to explain this one. Probably not. But just in case it's not Facebook. But you can get in and out quick. And you have 140 characters to say what you want.)

3. http://www.softpedia.com (A safe site in which you can find pretty much anything software wise. Such as Freeware, Trailware and even the odd Shareware.)

4. http://www.imdb.com (Do you like Movies, TV Shows ? Do you have a favorite Actor or Actress ? Have you ever wanted to beat that snarky friend of yours in a bet ? Well, with this site settle it what ever it maybe.)

5. ebay.com or Amazon.com (Ok have you ever needed to buy something ? Or are you missing that super rare LP ? And yes I said LP. I was born in the 80′s. Then go to town on one or both of the sites listed. You'll never have to leave you house again. Unless your mail box is at the end of the street or complex.)

DownThemAll! (2.0.8) – Mozilla FireFox Add-on Review

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 09:15 PM PDT

DownThemAll! (2.0.8)

A. Ease of use: 4/5 – Pretty straight to the point. But there are some more advanced options. That maybe hard to comprehend for some users.

B. Security – Absolutely No Impact On FireFox Security Or PC Security

C. Usefulness: 4/5 – Does have some flaws and not every website. Will let you use this without some issues. Such as re-starting or even corrupting your download.

D. FireFox Slowdown: Very Little

E. Computer Slow Down: Very Little

F. Type Of User I Would Recommend To Use This Add-on: Beginner to Moderate skilled FireFox user

Global Test Market – Survey Site Review (Oct 2011)

Posted: 23 Oct 2011 09:15 PM PDT

Name: Global Test Market

Link: http://www.globaltestmarket.com/index.php

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Pretty Much Anyone

Type Of Award Or Payment: Points or Sweepstakes Entry's

(1 point = .05 cents US) Must Have 1000 Points = $50 USD Minimum To Collect

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: 0 – 100

Sign-Up Time: Pretty Lengthy

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 5 – 50

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Often less the a year

Do They Spam You: No

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 – Global Test Market survey site has dramatically increased their overall survey invites YET AGAIN. Since my last review way back on (July 2011). Global Test Market has remained the same by sending out a mix bag of survey invites that are both worth points and or worth Sweepstakes entries. I am very happy to report it is very easy now to get your 1,000 points or $50 USD, often you can achieve the feat in less then (6 months). I have even seen it earned in less then 3 months.
