What Does The Short Form “OS” Stand For ? Posted: 09 Jul 2011 01:13 PM PDT An operating system or "OS" – is software, consisting of programs and data, that runs on computers, manages computer hardware resources, and provides common services for execution of various application software. Operating system is the most important type of system software in a computer system. Without an operating system, a user cannot run an application program on their computer. For hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between application programs and the computer hardware, although the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware and will frequently call the OS or be interrupted by it. Operating systems are found on almost any device that contains a computer—from mobile phones to video game consoles and all the way to supercomputers and web servers. Examples of popular modern operating systems are: Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows. |
Posted: 09 Jul 2011 11:15 AM PDT Dear Readers, It appears that Cnet / Download.com has apparently mislabeled the new version Of AVIRA Free Anti-Virus as (10.2.0.696). Instead of the correct version code of (10.0.0.650). I'm not really sure why this is the case. It could be a minor oversight. But REGARDLESS it is FALSE advertising by Cnet / Download.com. **But if for what ever reason you are interested in seeing the mistake I am talking about here is the link: AVIRA Free Anti-Virus 10 Version (10.0.0.650) Download Link (I have chosen to use the correct version code for the link description. But if you click on the link you'll see the version code as (10.2.0.696). Which like I said is incorrect. ———— On Another Important Side Note: I figured it was probably a mistake as not even AVIRA's main site has the new service pack 2 for direct download. You can only get it via AUTOMATIC update and or MANUAL Update. ———— I have checked the link above and it works. But please report via comment or e-mail if this link somehow becomes broken…. ————- Till The Next Post, Remy "Se7en" |
